Occupy Reason

Back in the ’60’s, there was an awakening about war and other social issues, like what’s happening now, only they had more of a Free Press, and actual war reporting rather than just “embedded” press agents.   How is the average person’s story told today?  How are our voices heard?  How do we find out what’s going on?

Defense Industry Bringing The War Home?

How Long Will The American People Let Corporate Tyrants Own Their Government? photo: ipsnews.net

Tick tock people – time to wake up.  There are chilling things that could be happening this very minute.  Our president is poised to sign a document that shreds our Bill of Rights.  Here I thought I voted for a Constitutional Scholar.  I thought he’d protect our rights, not sign them away.  He will be losing the coveted Independent Vote with a stupid move like this.  He will lose the votes of all those starry eyed liberals who voted for him thinking he could perform miracles.  He will only be licking the boot heels of the Republicans, who wrote this assault upon the American Citizen, and who have declared war against him anyway.   What a stupid move, Mr. President.  Your “note” attached will not save you.

What is happening to America, folks?

“Remember, Remember, the Fifth of November…”

by TBird

Today is the day they’re talking about.  Guy Fawkes day.   The Fifth of November.   Why is that such a big deal?  Who is Guy Fawkes?

I, being perhaps the last one on the interwebz who had not seen V. For Vendetta, finally watched it tonight.  Figured I’d at least see what all the fuss was about.

Cardboard Revolution

It’s cardboard.

What started as a ragtag bunch of peaceful protesters on Wall Street, has now blossomed into a worldwide Occupy Movement.  When people around the world started to see the peaceful assembly being attacked and peaceful, unarmed protesters being brutalized by “public servants” who are supposed to “serve and protect” them, more and more supported them.  Veterans showed up, to help protect them.  A worldwide movement is now in full swing, with countries as far away as both Egypt and Israel, marching in solidarity with U.S. protesters who have been brutalized beyond belief.

One such protester, US Marine Scott Olsen, survived two tours in Iraq, only to come home and get hit in the head by an Oakland Police “projectile” and suffered brain injury to the speech center of his brain.  His crime?  Simply peacefully assembling.  He is said to have “provoked no one” and footage of the incident shows there was no cause for police to abuse their power so forcefully that night.

Think about that one for a minute. Injured like this.  Suffering brain damage to the speech center of his brain.

A two tour veteran of the United States.  Literally silencing his speech.  Simply for standing up for his right to free speech.

It’s enough to leave anyone speechless.

Divided, Not Yet Conquered.

by TBird

Gaius Julius Caesar coined the phrase “divide et impera,” – divide and conquer – and used it to defeat the Gauls.   Do you want to be conquered?  While we on the left and right are busy fighting amongst ourselves about wedge issues, those who seek to conquer and control this country are running your government and taking its spoils for themselves.  Time to wake up and smell the Citizenry.  If roughly half of the eligible voters in this country register, and only roughly half of those who register bother to vote, then who’s running the country?
